Skyping to France
Do you know which country's flag has the same colors as the U.S.A.? You guessed it... it's France. On March 29 , 2011 we skyped some of Cael's family in France (Europe). His cousin Juliana taught us information about France.
We learned French students start school at 8:30, go home at 11:30 for lunch, come back at 1:30 and go until 4:00; plus they don't have school on Wednesdays!
Tennis, soccer, and kite flying are the most popular sports in France.
Some foods in France are bread, soup, duck, rabbit, wine, and cheese.
Military time doesn't have pm and am. It only has hours that go to 24. So, in France, 8am would be 8am, but 1pm would be 13:00.
To see a movie in the USA costs about $9.00, and in France it costs about 6 euros.
The Eiffel Tower a gigantic sculpture in France. It cost about 1 million dollars to pay for it. It is located in a park called Champ de Mars. Our friend in France visited the Eiffel Tower. It is 984 feet tall or 300 meters. In France, most people use the metric system to measure objects.
In France, summer is warm, fall is cool, spring is warm and winter is warm too. The high temperature in winter would be mid-40s and the low would be low 30s.
Some French words are: Il n'y a pas de quoi, which means your welcome. Yes is oui and no is non.
Juliana visited the Palace of Versailles while she was visiting Paris. It is located in the small township of Versailles just outside of Paris. The Palace is between 520,00 square feet and 550,000 square feet.
